Catalina Island Wildlife Programs

Catalina Island wildlife—boasting over 50 endemic species— surpasses many other Southern California Channel Islands making the Island known for its remarkable diversity

The goal of the Catalina Island Wildlife Program is to support resilient native animal populations where rare and endemic Island fauna are not at risk.  In the upcoming decade, the Conservancy will increase its effort to document, understand and manage the lesser-known and sensitive wildlife species through strong research partnerships. Learn more about how the wildlife team is actively conserving species like the Catalina Island fox, Catalina Island Ornate shrew, seabirds, herpetofauna, and songbirds.
