Catalina Island Recreation

Responsible recreation for the stewardship of our natural resources.

The Conservancy provides access to Catalina’s wildlands with nearly 165 miles of roads and trails and 62 miles of secluded coves for camping, biking, hiking and more.

Explore Catalina Island’s wild side with hiking, camping, biking, guided Eco Tours and shuttle access through the Catalina Island Conservancy. The Conservancy protects 88% of Catalina Island and provides access to more than 200 miles of roads and trails and 62 miles of rugged shoreline.

Whether you are planning a day trip from Avalon, hiking the Trans-Catalina Trail, camping at Black Jack, Little Harbor or Parsons Landing, visiting Airport in the Sky, riding the Wildlands Express or exploring the Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden, we’ll help you plan your adventure. The right starting point is right in Avalon. Join us at the Trailhead Visitor Center, just steps from the ferry terminal in Avalon.

Recreation on Catalina Island is also part of conservation. Every permit, tour, shuttle ride and visit helps support the care of Catalina’s wildlands, native plants, wildlife and open spaces.
