White’s Landing Boat-In and Hike

October 7, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Join the Catalina Marineros for a Boat-In at Whites Landing on Saturday, October 7th.   The Conservancy’s support group of boaters is invited to enjoy a full day of activities beginning at Whites Landing Cove.  The event will begin at Whites Landing for coffee and refreshments before a short but uphill hike to Whites Restoration Area.  Rare Plant Ecologist, Kevin Alison will join members for the hike and provide a tour of this native plant haven featuring a variety of Channel Islands endemic and Catalina endemic and native species, including Channel Island tree poppy, Saint Catherine’s lace, Catalina nightshade, Santa Catalina ironwoods, Santa Catalina Island manzanita and more.

It will be an opportunity to learn more about these treasured species as well as the Conservancy’s restoration work.  After the tour, Marineros will enjoy the downhill hike back to Whites Landing where cold refreshments and a hearty lunch await.  The fee is $30 for Marineros Members and $60 for Non-Member guests.  The event requires boaters to boat-in to the location, however a shoreboat may be added based on demand.

Marineros are Conservancy members at the Adventurer level and above, who are boaters or people who enjoy the ocean.  Each year the Marineros support group hold events that provide unique experiences on Catalina Island including the Whites Landing Boat-In!  If you would like to become a Catalina Marinero, you can join HERE.  Or contact Gina Nelson for more information at [email protected] or 562-437-8555 x1224.
