Catalina Speaker Series: Kelp Forest
Jun. 26 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Free
Dive into the complex and fascinating world of underwater ecosystems with our upcoming Catalina Speaker Series featuring Lorraine Sadler, a marine researcher, educator and Women Divers Hall of Fame member.
The focus of her work includes a wide range of marine science and conservation efforts connected to Catalina, including scientific diving, hyperbaric medicine, marine education and kelp forest research. Drawing from decades of experience underwater, Sadler will share stories and insights from her career, from sea otter reintroduction efforts to the changing dynamics of local kelp forests. The talk will also explore the current state of Catalina’s kelp forests and how environmental changes, including this year’s El Niño conditions, could influence the future of the island’s marine ecosystems.
