Bird Photography Workshop with Jason Odell

Join renowned wildlife photographer Jason P. Odell for a hands-on Bird Photography Workshop that combines expert instruction, field practice, and personalized feedback. Designed for photographers of all skill levels, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to enhance your skills while observing and capturing the diverse birdlife of Catalina Island.
The workshop begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Trailhead Visitor Center in Avalon, where participants will start with a lesson on photography fundamentals, including composition, lighting, and camera settings. From there, you’ll head out for field session, applying your new skills to photograph the island’s diverse bird species. Afterward, you’ll return to the Trailhead Visitor Center for a post-field review, where Jason will provide personalized feedback to help refine your technique.
The course fee includes: Expert instruction, hands-on practice in the field, personalized feedback, lunch, and a Catalina Island bird checklist.
Lunch is provided, but please bring a reusable water bottle. Dress for a field day with layers, sun protection, long pants, and sturdy shoes.

About the Instructor:
Jason P. Odell is an accomplished wildlife photographer, writer, and educator based in Colorado. He has authored over a dozen eBooks on photography and image processing and regularly contributes to photography publications. Jason leads workshops and photo tours worldwide, sharing his expertise with photographers of all skill levels.
