California’s Largest Outdoor Classroom

The Conservancy is proud to host students of all ages for hands on educational experiences on Catalina. Conservancy staff regularly coordinates and leads school groups in enriching exploration, educating students on our ongoing conservation efforts, the Island’s rich biodiversity and history of Catalina. Organizations like Boys & Girls Club, Los Angeles Conservancy and Long Beach Conservation Corps regularly partner with us to provide students with new and exciting experiences in Catalina’s wildlands. Many of these children have never before visited the Island, let alone camped or hiked. The Hathaway Catalina Experience is a hands on educational program for qualifying high school aged students. The Conservancy’s various opportunities for students promote a love for the outdoors, an understanding of nature and a desire to be good stewards of the land.
