From Rescue to Release: Championing Conservation at the Marine Mammal Care Center
Join Dave Bader, Chief of Operations and Education at the Marine Mammal Care Center (MMCC), as he dives into the critical work of saving marine mammals along the California coast. In this talk, Dave will explore how MMCC’s dedicated team rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured marine mammals, advances research on ocean health, and inspires the next generation of conservationists through hands-on education. Learn about the challenges these animals face, the science behind their care, and how MMCC is making a difference in ocean conservation.

David Bader
David Bader is the Chief of Operations and Education at the Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro, CA. With over two decades of experience in informal science education, David has been a key figure in developing and managing educational programs since beginning his career in 1998. He has created a variety of capacity-building opportunities for staff, university researchers, agency scientists, and informal educators across the Los Angeles area. David holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master’s degree in Biology, with a focus on educational media design, from the University of California, Irvine.
