Lace up your hiking boots for a guided adventure into Catalina’s interior for a look at the traditional and contemporary uses of native plants on Catalina Island. Explore the connection between Catalina’s terrestrial and coastal ecosystems through the rich knowledge of Indigenous people who have cultivated deeply rooted relationships with the land and its resources.
Join us for an excursion guided by Gabrielle Crowe, Co-Chair and Secretary of Environmental Sciences for the Gabrielino-Shoshone Nation of Southern California. Through storytelling and hands-on exploration, Gabrielle will guide participants through this intricate history.
Event Details
This event begins and ends at the Trailhead Visitor Center. Meet here at 8 a.m. for the shuttle into the interior. Plan to return to the Trailhead at 1:30 p.m. If you’re traveling from the mainland, please note that Catalina Express boat fare is not included and reservations should be made as early as possible to secure your spot.
Know Before You Go
Pack a lunch and snacks, a reusable water bottle and plenty of sun protection. Wear layered clothing, long pants and sturdy hiking shoes suitable for rugged terrain.
