Join us for a unique geology workshop on Catalina Island led by Dr. Paul D. Asimow, the Eleanor and John R. McMillan Professor of Geology and Geochemistry at Caltech. Dr. Asimow will lead participants on a field-based exploration of Catalina’s interior, highlighting the island’s unique geologic features and the stories they tell about its history. With decades of research spanning Earth and planetary sciences—from Catalina Island to Mars—Dr. Asimow brings an energetic, interdisciplinary approach to understanding the forces that shape our planet.

What to bring:
Lunch and snacks (not provided), reusable water bottle, layers, sun protection, long pants, and sturdy shoes suitable for hiking in rugged terrain.
Boat fare on the Catalina Express is not included. Participants should make those reservations as soon as possible if they do not live on the island.
