By using a number of security technologies in our Web sites, we maintain as a priority the privacy of your information. Any public disclosure of aggregate information regarding site usage and traffic, which is necessary for business marketing purposes, is always devoid of any personally identifying information.

CIC is concerned about protecting children’s privacy. If you are 12 years of age or younger, we do not want your personal information. Please do not submit any personal information to us. There may be some areas within and, where people may post messages or provide feedback, but children are again discouraged from providing any personal information. If a visitor known to be a child (under the age of 13) sends an e-mail to CIC, we will only use it to respond to the e-mail and not to create profiles or otherwise retain the information.


The Catalina Island Conservancy has incorporated the latest Internet technological standards into the design of the secure purchase areas of and We also monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to access, upload, or change information on the Web site and across the network. Under no uncertain terms, any information you send us while within the secure shipping area is protected by 128-bit “Secure Socket Layer” SSL encryption, making your transaction safe and reliable. You can tell whether you are in our secure shopping area by viewing the lock or key at the bottom of your browser—an unlocked or broken key (depending on your browser) means you are in an unsecured area.

Shopping on the Internet is safe, and online credit card transactions are no more risky than other means of shopping. Our encryption methods make credit card fraud even more difficult than mail or phone orders, or even in-person purchases. If you experience fraudulent use of your credit card as a result of using our Web site, notify your credit card company per its rules and procedures. Most credit card companies will either cover the fraudulent purchases or hold you liable for no more than $50.

As a standard Internet practice, should your credit card company hold you liable for some portion of a fraudulent charge at and we’ll reimburse you for the maximum liability of $50, provided the purchase was made through our secure server.

CIC needs to know your name, e-mail address, shipping address, credit card number and expiration date in order to process and fulfill your order. We might also request additional information that you choose to submit about your interests or feedback about our site and products so that we can provide a better shopping experience for you. The name, address, and payment information that the user might provide when using and may be processed or disclosed by CIC as permitted under the Web site’s Terms of Use, of which the user agrees to upon utilizing the information and services of the Web sites.

Returns Policy Overview 

You may return new, unopened items sold and fulfilled by The CIC Explore Store within 30 days of delivery for a full refund with the following conditions. Items should be returned in their original product packaging. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error.

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper; however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days). We'll notify you of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item. 

Items that are Not Returnable 

Unfortunately we cannot accept returns of the following items:


  • Adult Jewelry orders.
  • Health & Personal Care items.
  • Any CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, video game, cassette tape, or vinyl record that has been opened
    (taken out of its plastic wrap).
  • Any book that has obvious signs of use.
  • Any item that is not in its original condition, is damaged, or is missing

parts for reasons not due to our error. 


Receiving a Refund 

We'll process your refund after we receive and check your return. For items directed back to us, expect your refund within 4 weeks of giving your package to the return shipper (though in many cases you'll receive the refund much sooner). 

This time period includes:

3 to 10 business days for us to receive your return from the shipper;

3 to 5 business days for us to process your return;

The time it takes your bank to process our refund request (see your bank’s regulations for refund times) 

We'll notify you via e-mail or phone of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item. 

 How Refunds are Issued 

If you paid by credit card, your refund will go to your credit card after your return is processed.  Credit card to Credit card is usually 3-5 business days (check your bank for specific time frames) 



If you received a faulty item or wrong size and need to exchange it for the same item, call us at 310-510-2595 ext 100 during regular business hours (8:30am-5pm PST). If you would like to exchange an item for a different one, please return the original item through our Returns Guidelines (you will be refunded your original purchase price once we receive the item) and place another order for the item you wish to purchase. You do not have to wait for us to receive the original item before placing the new order.  

Please note that it takes us 3 to 5 business days to process returns once they arrive at our Explore Store.  


In-Store Returns 

Unused/Unopened Items purchased from CIC Explore Store can also be returned within 30 days for full refund to our physical store location in downtown Avalon, at 125 Clarissa Ave, on Catalina Island with proper receipt.


Gift Returns 

The Explore Store online allows gift recipients to return items they received as a gift for store credit,  even if the order was not marked as a gift at the time of purchase. The amount of credit you receive depends on the gift’s value when purchased. Call us at 310-510-2595 ext 100 to learn more about credit for gift returns.
