This month’s focus is on cold-blooded animals\, featuring a slime experiment and other activities. \nAdditional Details: \n\nLocation: The Trailhead\nTransportation: Avalon School participants will be picked up from the lower turnaround at school and shuttled to the Trailhead Visitor Center by Conservancy staff. Please choose your pick-up option when registering (parent pick-up\, shuttle back to school\, or allowed to walk home).\nSnacks: Provided for all participants.\nCost: Free for all participants.\n\nStudents must have a signed permission slip to participate. Permission slips will be distributed in classrooms and are due by Friday March 21\, 2025.  For those who register online\, a link to the permission slip (Google Form) will be sent via email after registration. DESCRIPTION:Register		\n \nThis 7-hour excursion into the wildlands of Catalina Island expands on the concepts covered in Naturalist 1 Training. Education staff will guide you through a course-work book while exploring the landscape and ecosystem of Catalina. \nThe Naturalist 2 Training field excursion runs from 8:30am-3:30pm and begins and ends at the Conservancy’s Trailhead visitor center\, 708 Crescent Avenue. \nCourse workbook is included in the course fee. Boat fare on the Catalina Express is not included. Participants should make those reservations as soon as possible if they do not live on the Island. Lunch at the Restaurant at the Airport in the Sky is not included and participants need to bring or buy their own lunch. \nParticipants need to come prepared for a full day outside in the field\, standing and walking. Sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, sun protection\, and a re-fillable water bottle are required. Some walking on uneven terrain should be expected.

This hike is a new opportunity to connect with the land\, the community and the mission you support. \nChoose your adventure: We are offering three different starting points to suit your travel plans and hiking preferences. The cost is $30 for members and $75 for non-member guests. Please note that transportation options vary by route. Whether you take the ferry into Avalon and shuttle to the hike\, fly into the Airport in the Sky\, or boat into Two Harbors\, there are options for everyone. \n  \n\nOption 1: Airport to Little Harbor – Meet in Avalon\nThis 6-mile moderate hike starts at Airport in the Sky and ends at Little Harbor with a good amount of downhill terrain. Includes transportation to and from the Trailhead Visitor Center in Avalon. \nSchedule:\n\n9:45 a.m. – Meet at the Trailhead Visitor Center in Avalon for shuttle transportation\n10:30 a.m. – Arrive at Airport in the Sky (restrooms available)\n10:45 a.m. – Begin hike to Little Harbor\n12:30–2:30 p.m. – Lunch\, drinks and free time at Little Harbor (lunch catered by Cafe Metropole)\n2:30–3:30 p.m. – Return to Avalon\n\n\n  \n\nOption 2: Airport to Little Harbor – Fly In\nThis 6-mile moderate hike (or 12 miles round trip) is designed for our Aero Club members flying into Airport in the Sky.
