DESCRIPTION:Native plants support a healthy Island ecosystem and wildfire resilience. Help with sowing seeds\, up-potting plants and gardening fun at the Ackerman Native Plant Nursery. You’ll help the nursery care for more than 85 native species for island restoration work. Music and light snacks will be provided to keep the energy going.   \nThis volunteer opportunity occurs every Thursday. Please register at least 48 hours in advance. \nWhere: Meet at the Trailhead Visitor Center at 8 a.m. for complimentary transportation to the Ackerman Native Plant Nursery. SUMMARY:Naturalist 2 Training August 28
DESCRIPTION:Register Today!		\n \nThis 7-hour excursion into the wildlands of Catalina Island expands on the concepts covered in Naturalist 1 Training. Education staff will guide you through a course-work book while exploring the landscape and ecosystem of Catalina. \nThe Naturalist 2 Training field excursion runs from 8:30am-3:30pm and begins and ends at the Conservancy’s Trailhead Visitor Center. \nCourse workbook is included in the course fee. Boat fare on the Catalina Express is not included. Participants should make those reservations as soon as possible if they do not live on the Island. Lunch at the Restaurant at the Airport in the Sky is not included and participants need to bring or buy their own lunch. \nParticipants need to come prepared for a full day outside in the field\, standing and walking. Sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, sun protection\, and a re-fillable water bottle are required. Some walking on uneven terrain should be expected.
