DESCRIPTION:This year’s Catalina: The Wild Side Art Show and Sale features ten nationally renowned artists who have documented remarkable vistas\, secluded beaches and favorite locales during their painting trips to the Island this past year. Catalina Island Conservancy’s 14th annual Catalina: The Wild Side Art Show and Sale returns on Sunday\, October 20th. One hundred paintings\, specifically created for this show\, will be on display and available for purchase both in person at Newport Harbor Yacht Club and online. This year’s artists are Suzie Baker\, Brienne Brown\, John Cosby\, Don Demers\, Kathleen Hudson\, Jane Hunt\, Kim Lordier\, Terry Miura\, Michael Obermeyer\, and Lori Putnam. \nOnline sale available now! \n		\n			BUY PAINTINGS		\n\n  \n\n\nProceeds from this show benefit the Conservancy and support the conservation\, education and recreation programs of the Conservancy\, including a permanent collection of plein air art that documents the Conservancy’s conservation efforts and progress in habitat restoration. \n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:This event will be in-person at the Trailhead Visitor Center and streamed live online. \n		\n			Register		\n \nFrom Rescue to Release: Championing Conservation at the Marine Mammal Care Center\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Dave Bader\, Chief of Operations and Education at the Marine Mammal Care Center (MMCC)\, as he dives into the critical work of saving marine mammals along the California coast. In this talk\, Dave will explore how MMCC’s dedicated team rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured marine mammals\, advances research on ocean health\, and inspires the next generation of conservationists through hands-on education. Learn about the challenges these animals face\, the science behind their care\, and how MMCC is making a difference in ocean conservation. \n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker\n \nDavid Bader \nDavid Bader is the Chief of Operations and Education at the Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro\, CA. With over two decades of experience in informal science education\, David has been a key figure in developing and managing educational programs since beginning his career in 1998. He has created a variety of capacity-building opportunities for staff\, university researchers\, agency scientists\, and informal educators across the Los Angeles area. David holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of California\, Santa Cruz\, and a master’s degree in Biology\, with a focus on educational media design\, from the University of California\, Irvine.
